Truly a Southern Belle at heart: A new chapter

Last week, I happily accepted a position as an Admission Representative for my alma mater, the prestigious and cutting-edge Savannah College of Art and Design.

During my time as a full-time student, I devoted much of my time to various college organizations including presiding over a Hall Council during my freshman year, becoming a Resident Assistant during my junior year and having the chance to lead events such as campus fundraisers and community-wide tree plantings through volunteer work with the Savannah Tree Foundation. Out of all of these enriching experiences, one of my best memories is my time as a Student Ambassador, providing information and insight to prospective students and their families while hosting tours of my campus. I volunteered my time as a Student Ambassador until my senior year and I am looking forward to going a step further as a graduate, now able to give even more advice as well as providing portfolio counseling on a full-time basis!

My new position, beginning at the end October, will allow me to once again mentor and inform those who are looking for the best art education available today. I am so excited to begin my career within the Atlanta campus, which opened in 2005 and currently showcases 23 majors in a state-of-the-art facility. I will still find the time to continue my freelance illustration and fine artwork, along with keeping up with my fine dinnerware collections, but one of the true rewards of my new position is knowing that my move to Atlanta next month will solidify my love of Georgia and SCAD even more than ever before...and I look forward to helping future students feel that same exact love through a truly enriching college experience.

Alice, dainty cups and saucers, and afternoon tea parties, oh my!...shopSCAD introduces Something So Sweet

shopSCAD, the exclusive retail gallery of the Savannah College of Art and Design, has introduced my newest collection of cafe and dessert sets, Something So Sweet, with the boutique's addition of my whimsical cafe set "Alice Prefers Sugar and Cream."

The cafe set, composed of four cups with four accompanying saucers, is inspired by the story of Alice in Wonderland with the individually hand-painted words "Drink me" featured on each of the saucers. Blue and white to match the colors of Alice's wardrobe and playfully smiling faces centered on each cup complete the cafe set's design. (Click on the photograph above for a more detailed look at all the design elements!)

Only one set is currently available through shopSCAD at the Savannah, Georgia location so you have to hurry to purchase it for your very own afternoon tea parties! Although it is not available for online purchase as of right now...you can check often to see when it appears online...you may call in your order if you just can't wait!
